They damage the top protective layer of the skin as well as its supporting fibers – collagen and elastin. As a result, the skin becomes dry, defenseless against unfavorable external factors, loses its firmness and elasticity. It ages faster, which is evidenced by the increasingly visible wrinkles. Nature’s answer to blue light are carotenoids, which shield blue light and help protect against blue-light induced oxidative stress.
